French Fred Presents Charles Collet

By: Tom Morin

Where do you start with Fred Mortagne, aka French Fred. He just about single handily changed how skate videos were made (Ty Evans was up to the same tricks across the pond) with his release of the eS video, Menikmati. His cinematic skills are almost unmatched in skateboarding.

He has used cranes and countless others filming innovations that have revolutionized how we view skateboarding on our televisions and computer screens. The French filmer/editor releases internet videos for his skate deck brand Cliche every few months that profile a single rider on the team.

And his latest edition is Charles Collet. The 22 year-old is one of France's best up-and-coming street skateboarders. He hails from Grenoble, but now lives in Lyon and has that smooth European street skateboarding stye that we've seen from the likes of his Cliche teammate, Jesus Fernandez.

So sit back, pour yourself a glass of Cabernet, grab a baguette, slice some cheese, light a smoke and enjoy French skateboarding at its best:

The 2012 Street League season kicked off in Kansas City this past weekend as it did last year-- with skateboard technician Nyjah Huston taking home $150,000. Huston's ability to land difficult and technical tricks consistently makes him almost unbeatable in the current Street League format.

"It was a hard one tonight, that's for sure!" said Nyjah. "I definitely had to work for it. I love the challenge, though, and to skate with these guys is great."
