Skateboarder Magazine's Make-A-Wish Benefit Skate Jam Recap

Skateboarder Magazine's 2nd annual Best Trick & Skate Jam benefiting the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Greater Los Angeles went down this Memorial Weekend at Stoner Skate Park. The benefit jam drew over 45 professional and amateur skaters to raise funds and awareness for the much-loved Foundation.

The event drew local community members and top names in skateboarding including Eric Koston, Heath Kirchart, Mike Carroll, Vincent Alvarez, Dustin Dollin, Josh Kalis, Alex Olson, David Gonzales, Matt Miller, Theotis Beasley, Raven Tershy, and many more. The perfect Memorial Weekend weather saw progressive tricks and unbelievable jam sessions for a packed plaza.

Legendary wild child Dustin Dollin swooped in unannounced ripped the park and then surprisingly matched the first prize donation of $2,500.

"Today's event could not have gone better, great weather, tons of great skateboarding and having the support from the local community and the skate industry to focus on a great cause was amazing," said Skateboarder Editor, Jaime Owens. "And what a better way to end the day was having our friend Dustin Dollin match the top prize donation. It was fantastic."

3rd: Jordan Maxham $1000

Each rider will have the winning prize money donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation in their name. Over Skateboarder Magazine raised $7,500 with their 2nd annual benefit jam.

Street League's instant scoring allowed for the possibility of pressure-packed moments, but very few times did the skateboarders deliver

The 2012 Street League season kicked off in Kansas City this past weekend as it did last year-- with skateboard technician Nyjah Huston taking home $150,000. Huston's ability to land difficult and technical tricks consistently makes him almost unbeatable in the current Street League format.

"It was a hard one tonight, that's for sure!" said Nyjah. "I definitely had to work for it. I love the challenge, though, and to skate with these guys is great."
