In skateboard park it was a close finish with only .05 points separating the top two athletes. Rodriguez earned an average score of 90.75 and fourteenyearold Chaz Ortiz placed second with 90.70. The jam for me is usually where Im a little better because I dont have to have the pressure of landing everything first try and I can do more difficult tricks and have a couple tries to do it, Rodriguez said. The athletes focused on executing tricks on the rails during the second part of the finals, a 7minute jam session. The 23yearold Rodriguez, of Tarzana Calif., landed a technical kickflip backside tailslide down the rail. Chaz, of Chicago, delivered an impressive kickflip frontside salad grind on the rail. In only his second professional competition, Chaz said nerves are not a factor when he competes Im on the podium, obviously I can hang with these guys and thats just unbelievable, Chaz said.

Street League 2012: Nyjah Huston Wins Kansas City... Again

Street League's instant scoring allowed for the possibility of pressure-packed moments, but very few times did the skateboarders deliver

The 2012 Street League season kicked off in Kansas City this past weekend as it did last year-- with skateboard technician Nyjah Huston taking home $150,000. Huston's ability to land difficult and technical tricks consistently makes him almost unbeatable in the current Street League format.

"It was a hard one tonight, that's for sure!" said Nyjah. "I definitely had to work for it. I love the challenge, though, and to skate with these guys is great."
