Doogood GSD Recap

The Doogood Conservatory’s Kick off to Go Skateboarding Day Recap

All the hot action went down June 20, at Hensley’s Flying Elephant Pub & Grill in Carlsbad, Ca. The Doogood Conservatory gratefully raised close to $700 in donations and raffle ticket sales. Not to mention, they were fortunate enough to receive ten decks and various sets of hardware collectively from Black Box Distribution, Syndrome Distribution, Blitz Distribution and from Matt Hensley himself. With these unexpected generous hardware donations, kids gearing up to ride at the first skateparks in Cairo, Egypt and Boston Bay, Jamaica will be royally stoked amongst other skateparks benefiting from the proceeds.

With thousands of dollars worth of product given away as raffle prizes, many guests left with smiles on their faces! A big thanks goes out to all the Doogood sponsors that provided some proper prizes: Blitz Distribution, Syndrome Distribution, Black Box Distribution, C1RCA, DC, CCS, Active, Sun Diego, Vans, Belly Up Tavern, House of Blues, Maloof Money Cup, Gravity, Stussy, Allyance, Quick Silver, S & A Publishing, Innes, Matt Hensley, Danny Way/Escalera, Jake Brown/Blind, and Chad Knight/1031. There was such a surplus of gear that Doogood was able to hook all the hardware shipments up with some soft goods to be given to some of the kids in need.

The entertainment for the night packed the venue from wall to wall, with a true rock n’ roll feel. Red Octopus opened up and pumped up the crowd with their lively echoing rifts. Once took the stage they literally put the term “raising the roof” to use! Their music was pulsating of energy and as always, they left their audience in complete awe. As for the awesome DJ set , they laid down some fresh tracks. From Question Mark & the Mysterians to the New York Dolls, the 60’s and 70’s were in full effect and the crowd loved it.

As for Hensley’s Flying Elephant and their all star staff, they were amazing. As busy as the venue was in the midst of a Californian heat wave, everyone got their delicious eats and cold bevies. Kudos to them for all their hard work.

Thanks to all the wonderful people that came out to support and have a good time! It couldn’t be done with out all of you and Doogood is more than thankful.
