Dylan Lifestyle Collection
Irvine, California —(February 28th, 2011) For the past four seasons, Gravis footwear has been pushing the envelope of traditional skateboarding shoes using the influence and design ideas of professional skateboarder Dylan Rieder. For the Spring 2011 collection, Gravis is taking it a step further. In addition to his existing signature skate shoes (the Dylan, Dylan Slip on and Dylan Mid), Gravis worked closely with Dylan on a lifestyle collection featuring three shoes and a bag.
Dylan’s style veers on the edge of high-end details and fashion. He wanted lower profile shoes with a mix of waxy surfaces and suede materials. His signature lifestyle shoe collection all have internal cushioning-latex and felt insole, high traction and thin rubber outsole. Dylan’s signature crests can be found on the outsoles and his razor blade details add the finishing touch to his four-piece collection from Gravis Footwear.
“Working with Dylan is always a cool experience. He has a keen eye for fashion and a great sense of style. I’m always intrigued by his ideas and concepts, my job is to help him turn his visions into a reality… but little does he know, he helps me express myself as a designer. There’s no way we [Gravis] would be creating styles like the Loafer or the Boot without his influence and esthetic.
He pushes the envelope for design making the job fun, fresh, exciting and many times unpredictable.”—Kelly Kikuta, Gravis Design Director
