MONSTER ENERGY IS PROUD TO PRESENT ROB DYRDEK’S
HIGHLY ANTICIPATED INAUGURAL STREET LEAGUE
Competing Monster Energy Athletes Include Chris Cole, Greg Lutzka, and Nick Dompierre
August 20, 2010 – Corona, CA – Monster Energy athletes Chris Cole, Greg Lutzka and Nick Dompierre will compete in Street League, a prestigious, invite-only three-event series featuring 24 of the best skateboarders in the world and the largest purse in skateboarding history – $1.2 million, more money than any other street contest combined. Founded by Monster Energy’s 20-year professional skateboarder, TV personality and entrepreneur, Rob Dyrdek, Street League will define the future of competitive skateboarding.
After dominating competitive skateboarding throughout 2009 and 2010, unbeatable Cole comes to Street League as a lead competitor with his two recent Maloof Money Cup victories.
Lutzka, one of the most prolific contest skaters of all time also comes to the Street League series as one of the lead contenders after his recent Dew Tour victory and second place finish.
Dompierre, one of the world’s most respected street skaters is a Street League favorite with uncanny style and power. Look for Nick to be a top contender in the Big feature section.
“The reality is that if you were invited into Street League that means you are built for this true-to-street skating contest series,” said Dyrdek. I have no doubt that Cole, Lutzka, and Dompierre will be battling it out in the finals of each stop of the tour.”
Not only is Street League the first contest to build concrete skate plazas inside world-class arenas, but Street League is also the first contest to introduce ISX scoring system, an instant scoring format, bringing a competitive strategy to skateboarding that could forever change the way competitions are judged – www.isxscoring.com
“I am seriously excited for Street League to start,” said Cole. “The format, course, skaters, and staff are all amazing! We did a practice run-through of the way the contest works, just to get a real feel for it, and it was incredible.”
The first stop of the series takes place at Jobing.com Arena in Glendale, Arizona on August 28th. Second stop is in Southern California at the Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, CA on September 11th, and the final stop will be in Las Vegas, NV at the Thomas & Mack Center on September 25th.
