Skateboarder Magazine’s Make-A-Wish Benefit Photo Recap

Words & Photos: Jaime Owens
Here’s a small photo recap of our third annual Make-A-Wish Foundation Best Trick Skate Jam at Stoner plaza made possible by our friends at Redbull and Arnette. And a big shout out to our boys from the SPOT crew of Ryan Clements, Jorge Angel, DJ Wade, Vern Laird and Jason Rothmeyer for handling all the announcing and judging for the day. It’s always great hanging with you guys. But overall, thanks to all the skaters that came out and shredding the park all day long under the blistering sun. We couldn’t be more proud to be able to present the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Greater Los Angeles with a check for $7500 which will be enough to grant at least three wishes for children in need. That’s a great feeling to have and we thank all of you. Check back for a full video recap tomorrow and we’ll see you out there next year when we do it all over again.

Shawn Hale stopped by the park to warm up before hitting the streets to go film but decided to stay and skate the jam. Thanks Shawn! Bluntslide.

Shawn Hale continued his rampage. Wallie backside Smith grind.

Jordan Maxham is gnar. Did you see his recent video part? Kickflip backside Smith grind backside 180 out.

We love having the SPOT crew help us out: George, Ryan, Vern and special guest Aquil Brathwaite.

Oscar Meza, kickflip nosegrind

A few of the heads that showed up: Daniel Espinosa, Chris Roberts, Paul Shier and Da Reda.

Yep.

Our good buddy, Jason Rothmeyer got Stacey Lowery and James Craig to help judge.

Sebo’s done this backside flip once before and vowed to never do it again. But it was worth giving it one more go for such a good cause.

Boom.

Eventhough Michael Guffey didn’t technically roll away from this 360 flip, it was still too gnar looking to not post. (he Baker-makered a few. Close enough)

The top three rippers for the day: 3rd Sebo Walker, 2nd Oscar Meza, 1st Anthony Estrada

Congrats to Anthony Estrada for holding it down all day. (I missed getting a good skate photo of Anthony but Bradford will have one!)

Senrud shuts down the park with some art.
