The Nugget Is Golden In Vegas

At the grande finale of Street League Skateboarding in Las Vegas, NV Shane “Nugget” O’Neill was able to edge out Skateboarding heavyweight, Chris Cole. It all came down to the final trick. Once again the difference between first and second place was just two points going into the last trick of the contest. Cole was ahead on his final approach. All he had to do was land a somewhat decent trick and the contest was his. He chose to kickflip the rail, and kicked his board away with no landing. Nugget landed a backslide lipslide on the rail and won.

“I was going to back lip the rail, but thought he’d do something better, so I chose to kickflip the rail. And in the end he back lipped the rail,” said Cole after the win.

Nugget, who is what you call an internet sensation and virtually unheard of a year-and-a-half ago, has taken skateboarding by storm. He broke onto the scene because of You Tube videos, and became a definitive presence after his Berrics video section.

“I’m going to save it like everything else,” said Nugget when asked what he was going to do with the $150,000 first place check.

As far as the year goes, fifteen-year-old Nyjah Huston, finished third and in process clinched the overall championship, and the blinged out Nixon Championship watch.

“Does that watch fit? If it it doesn’t can I have a couple of the links,” Cole to Huston after he was presented the watch. Stay tuned for more from Street League Skateboarding. Here are the full results:
