by Mike Rogge

Welcome to Music Mondays, a new exclusive series that highlights what people are listening to in the mountains. Up first is the 2013 ESPN Real Women Champ, Ingrid Backstrom.

“Taking Care of Business” is NOT one of the songs on Ingrid’s hotlist, but that’s what she’s doing here. Photo: Adam Clark.

Top Five Songs I’m Listening To At The Moment:

1.  “Blurred Lines” by Robin Thicke, T.I., and Pharrell

2.   “Time to Run” by Lord Huron

3.   “Muchacho” by Phosphorescent

4.  “Ghosts and Creatures” by Telekinisis

5.  “Night Faces” by Jessica Pratt
The song that reminds me of skiing the most is “The Fade” by Megafaun because it makes me think about really special people and skiing with them.
You might be surprised to learn that I have tons of Bruce Springsteen in my music library.
If I’m getting in the car to drive to Squaw or Crystal to ski, I like to listen to Biggie, Robyn, Outkast, Mystikal, or any over-the-top dance/hip-hop anthems to get fired up.
If music rights weren’t an issue, I’d use “Hurricane” by MS MR for a ski movie segment—and I am so lucky because I got to use it for my ESPN Real Women edit.
I live on the West Coast and a local music act I’ve been listening to is Shabazz Palaces.
If I could only listen to one album the rest of my life, I’d listen to Born in the USA by Bruce Springsteen.  There are lots of others but I would have to go with that one because it was my first album when I was 6 and I still love it.
