Skiers pursue powder in remote British Columbia

Salomon Freeski TV returned for a seventh season on Tuesday, releasing its first installment, “Return to Mica.” The 6-minute short sees skiers Mike Douglas, Mark Abma, and Chis Rubens taking a powder-filled heli ski trip to remote Mica Lodge in British Columbia to relive an earlier heli trip that was nothing short of amazing. This trip doesn’t disappoint, as all three rip pillow line after pillow line in some of the fluffiest white stuff on the planet.

“It's Mica—one of the best and most consistent places to ski powder in the world,” explained Douglas.

The webisode is one of the most popular ski webisodes on the Internet today and has won the last two Powder Awards for webisodes—a voting process that involves a panel of athletes, former pros, and writers from around the ski world. Despite the prestige earned in the past two years, Douglas admits the formula has changed a bit for 2014.

“Last season was pretty serious. I'd say the storytelling was subtle and less about getting people stoked. This year, we went back to the fun,” said director of Switchback entertainment, the group that works with Salomon on the series. “There are more laughs and goofy moments. Certainly, we went after the stories like we love to do, but we felt like it was time to bring a little more fun into the mix.”

Salomon will debut a new webisode every Tuesday for the next few months leading up to the ski season in North America. So sit back, relax, and enjoy the pow.
