One of Snowboards Funniest Characters is Headed to Vancouver
Well, they did it. The U.S officially succeeded in getting one of the coolest, down to earth, and laid back people in Snowboarding on to the Olympic Team.
With words like, “If you guys haven’t done it [snowboarding], come out and try it, it’s really fun”, how could you not root for this kid?
It’s like the story Rudy…with the crowd chanting Scotty Lago’s name instead. And…well, Rudy did actually kind of suck at football and Scotty rips at snowboarding but…still, the point is, he is a huge fan favorite, maybe not your “typical” Olympic athlete, and has a heartfelt story of being inspired by the injuries of his fellow Frends and will be representing the vibe of their entire crew at the Vancouver Winter Olympic Games. By vibe, I mean being hilarious, doing what they love, and being extremely radical all the time.
With a “don’t take anything too seriously” attitude and his ‘go for broke’ riding, Scotty started to creep his way towards the spotlight of being an Olympic hopeful early this season between the Grand Prix and the Winter Dew Tour. Sure enough, after an emotional journey through Olympic qualifiers, Lago landed a spot on Team USA, refusing to let the Frends crew down.
With two of his buddies, Kevin Pearce and Danny Davis, out of the competition with serious injuries, you can be sure Scotty Lago will be riding for all of them out there in the superpipe and will have a damn good time doing it.
Who knew an Olympian knew how to have so much fun?
