6th Annual Roxy Chicken Jam Invades Mammoth Next Month

By: Lindsay Fraka

Dude. March is in three days. How the heck did that happen? The Olympics brainwashed me and deleted the month of February. I'm pretty sure I got some riding in...but who really knows? March Madness, mustaches galore, too much of the color green, and maybe some late season storms will ensue soon. Dang.

Anyway, the point of me making a stink about the month of March is because Roxy officially gave us the dates for the North American 6th Annual Roxy Chicken Jam 2010 and it made me realize how friggin' close it is. This ever-awesome all lady contest will be going down at Mammoth Mountain March 25-28. Registration opened February 19th.

Here are some more fun details:

Wed, March 24
- Registration and Practice

Thursday, March 25
- Superpipe and Slopestyle Qualifiers

Friday, March 26
- Superpipe and Slopestule Main Rounds
-Quiksilver Cluck-Off - Big Air Invitation

Saturday, March 27
- Superpipe and Slopestyle FINALS
- Mascot Superpipe Contest
- Awards
-Concert - The Bravery

"Launched in 2004, the Roxy Chicken Jams are the first and most prestigious stand-alone all-girls pro snowboarding events in the world. By bringing together the best riders, the best resorts and some of the biggest prize purses in women's professional snowboarding, Roxy fosters greater exposure and a higher level of competition for the sport and its riders.

Each snowboard season features two Jams: one in North America at Mammoth Mountain, and a European event held this year in Saalbach Hinterklemm, Austria. The Roxy Chicken Jam in Austria runs January 8-10, 2010, while the event in the United States runs March 25-28, 2010, crowning the Swatch TTR Women's World Champion. In addition to the 6-star superpipe and slopestyle competition, spectators will again enjoy a huge free concert in the Village at Mammoth featuring The Bravery and N.A.S.A.." (Roxy.com)

This event always proves to have an impressive crown turn out, a massive goggle tan rate, and balls out riding that never fails to blow minds. The best female riders will all be at one epic mountain with park features that push their progression along with their fun levels.

If that's not enough, there's another attraction that creates some ridiculousness at this event as well. The Mascot Superpipe Contest. Pretty much riders are decked out in the most unnecessary and unfunctional mascot costumes possible (which equals hilarity and yard sales) and attempt to brave the superpipe. You don't want to miss this. Trust me, I've missed it every year for some stupid reason...not this year. No way. I'll be there surrounded by all the pink Roxy tents, zinc in one hand and beverage in the other, ready to watch some shredding and do some shredding of my own.

Stay tuned to Grind for more event info and coverage.

Stale Sandbech Lands Triple Under-Flip 1260

Stale Sandbech Lands Triple Under-Flip 1260

The 18-year-old stomped it off a massive kicker in Europe.

While many of us were sulking because the season is practically over, Norwegian shredder, Stale Sandbech was busy stomping a brand new trick. A video of the 18-year-old hitting a massive kicker in Europe just surfaced, and in it, Sandbech stomps a triple underflip 1260. Yeah, we didn't really think that was possible either, but this video from Stale's sponsors proves it.

After seeing the video, we had to know what was going through Sandbech's mind when he stomped the new trick...
