Stylewars Cancelled Due To Blizzard Conditions

By: Lindsay Fraka

GrindTV Newswire, Via Swatch TTR World Tour: (August 27, 2010) Blizzard conditions force Stylewars Grandmaster title to be held off until 2011.

Unlucky for all the riders and organizers involved, blizzard conditions across all four days of competition forced Stylewars to be cancelled this year.

With Falls Creek Resort reporting the biggest dump since 1992, visibility was a huge concern. And with the safety of all those involved an enormous priority, it was decided that no competition was be to held and that only the annual 28 Stairs event would continue.

This was a huge disappointment for everyone, especially to many of the riders who were super keen to hit up the world-class terrain park this year. The park featured two huge jumps (a 70-foot step-down and an 85-foot gap jump), a giant snow butter-box and an up-and-over pyramid wall-ride.

You can check out the photos of park set-up taken a few days before competition at the Stylewars Media site (under Sunday 22th August - Stylewars: Sunday Park Set Up Photos).

However, in light of the unfortunate conditions, the annual 28 Stairs event was hugely anticipated by all riders, staff and spectators on the mountain, attracting an astounding number of viewers who chose to brave the cold conditions.

The exciting and action-packed 28 Stairs event brought Stylewars 2010 to a close, and although no Stylewars Grand Master was crowned this year, we're confident that Mother Nature will shine on us next year, for Stylewars 2011 - 10 Year Anniversary.
