Slopestyle finals at the 2011 Burton New Zealand Open shut down yesterday after a picture perfect day
at Cardrona Alpine Resort. Things started off a little sketchy with multiple competitors knuckling the money booter at the end of the course however, the riders got into their grooves and began to spin to win.The girls saw no surpises. I mean, who really likes change? Nobody. So, in typical Jamie Anderson fashion, she pulled a solid run and won. Kjersti Buass rolled into the second-notch spot, with Jordie Malinski rounding out third. And although one of the top qualifiers Shelly Gotlieb did not find herself in the top three - she did catch the crowds attention by hucking herself in an attempt to try two double backflips. Desperate to win? Maybe. Ballsy and awesome? Yes. We applaud her for her effort to push the
limits and keep everyone on their toes.
Boys will be boys. By that I mean, throw double cork 1080's. The top contenders were all flipping and spinning their way to the top in a heated battle. Slopestyle monster Mark McMorris was victorious with Sebastien Toutant hot on his heels and Stale Sandbech landing in third.
