What a tease: The lucky top 13 trailers of 2011

By: Lindsay Fraka

With the overload of snowboard video teasers that just took over summer, it was necessary to compile a list of the ones that really and honestly left us teased. Really? You're going to stop there? We weren't ready for that to end yet.

2010-11 provided for some mind-blowing cinematic experiences and we're pretty much ready for the full-length films to show up. Here are the lucky 13 that made our top teaser list this year in no particular order:

1.
The Art of Flight: We won't sit here and pretend that this isn't the most anticipated shred movie of the year. It really is. Its predecessor - "That's It That's All" - left us frothing at the mouth for another film like that. Froth no more - it's here. The AoF follows T. Rice, John Jackson, Mark Landvik, Scotty Lago, Jake Blauvelt, Nicolas Muller, Gigi Ruf, DCP, and Pat Moore as they literally progress the sport before our eyes in nutty locations and go bigger....well, then everyone. Thanks Red Bull, Travis Rice, and Brain Farm, our socks are about to be blown off.

2. Standing Sideways: After taking a break last season from making a team movie, the big bad B is releasing "Standing Sideways" with their newly stocked team and a new hunger for setting the bar in snowboarding. Everything you could want is in the new Burton video and it all fits perfectly together. Hammers, bails, pow days, park booters, massive hits, and street rails with all your favorite rippers. It's gonna be a good one.First teaser here

3. Vacation: Forum has rightfully earned a reputation for killer videos. That kind of comes with the territory of winning Best Video 2 years in a row for "Forever" and "F*ck It" along with their team rider John Jackson claiming Best Rider of the Year again...2 years in a row. Think they are on top of their shit a little bit? This company always delivers a good vibe with good people. What else do you really need? Oh yeah, banger snowboarding. They've got that too. Take a "vacation" with these guys this year in their latest project that's based around a no pressure, free and fun time.

4. Defenders of Awesome: Talk about anticipation. I guess all good things do come to those who wait because it's been frigging four years since CAPiTA has released a team video and it was getting a little ridiculous. Thank heavens these guys know what they are doing. They've been hoarding a ton of raw ripping talent and are now throwing them in the spotlight with their pants down in "Defenders of Awesome". When you line up some dirty riding in the streets next to big hits in the backcountry it's hard to hold yourself back. There's plenty of awesome in this video so you better get ready.

5. Ransack Rebellion: When a company actually describes a team video as "a guaranteed slaughter fest of freestyle snowboard mayhem" you already have to award them points. At least, I do. Think Thank's 2011 video "Ransack Rebellion" really is a hot mess of rail annihilation and total destruction of everything in their path. Destruction meaning really sick snowboarding and the drive to take advantage of every situation they came across. Another stacked line-up of talent, this one will keep you on your toes.

6. Kaleidoscope: I don't want to make bold statements but what can I say? I'm going to. Isenseven's "Kaleidoscope" teaser was one of my favorites of all time. What does Germany put in their water? This group of riders gets it done. "Kaleidoscope" is just one of those teasers that gets you jonesing to ride. It's got variety, sick riding, shows they are all about having a good time, and on top of that, the song is spot on - in my book, that is. You won't know what hit you.

7. Shoot the Moon: Videograss' third video, "Shoot the Moon" seems to be a must-see as well. Not only because this company always has their own blatant perspective on the world of snowboarding but because this scruffy crew gets after it with no apologies. When you have Jon Kooley, Zac Marben, Jake OE, Darrell Mathes, Justin Bennee and Louif Paradis on one movie screen - hammers and personality are inevitable.

8. The Shred Remains: Besides the fact that you'd want to hang out with this team on any given day of the week, Rome's 2011 video "The Shred Remains" has had our attention since last year. With their video blog that kept tabs on the progress and experiences of their journey making the video, we were able to catch glimpses on what Rome was putting together for the snow world. It's a proven fact that these riders can do anything and everything with style and humor. "The Shred Remains" appears to be stashed with burly street missions, bluebird backcountry days, and awesome tree runs in dumping snow. All signs point to a sweet shred movie.

9. TB20: Standard Films has returned with another winner. Their legendary "Totally Board" series that made its first impression on snowboarding in 1991, has hit the double decade mark. The work that Absinthe has done has already had a monumental affect on the push of big mountain riding and the videos that capture it. Its game on with "TB20"; massive mountains, massive talent, and massive tricks.

10. Winter Wars: I have a slight bias to the Peepshow crew. Not that it's not apparent to everyone that they absolutely rip, have their own view on things, represent girls in snowboarding in a proper way, blah, blah blah....but I will never have a bad thing to say about the work they put out into the universe. The amount of talent between these girls baffles me and the size of their balls matches that. Each season their videos are fresh and different and I appreciate that. June Bhongjan & Esthera Preda have done it again with "Winter Wars" and captured what snowboarding means to them simply and perfectly.

11. Familia 2: Uh yeah...this teaser is ridiculous. Insane tricks and an attitude to go with it. Marc Frank Montoya and FODT deliver another hammer-dropper that makes you wish you were as naturally bad ass as this crew. Magoon, Thompson, MFM, Paxson, Dennison, Owen...yeah. Just make sure you can see the stage with this one.

12. YES. It's a Movie: Heaps and heaps of powder lines and endless stretches of mountains - the YES crew put in work this season and YES it sure as hell paid off. This movie aims to bring snowboarding back to the simplicity it was based upon with no bull shit. Cliff drops, powder pillows, tree runs, steep cornices, and heli-rides, YES shows that they didn't leave anything untouched during their season and will probably inspire you to do the same.

13. One for the Road: I've already stated that I think Teton Gravity Research is on crazy pills and I stand by that. They aren't afraid of attacking anything or using their resources to accomplish the believed impossible. "One for the Road" stands for what most snowboarders and skiers' lives are based upon. The road trip. Following the storm. Getting to your local mountain. Getting to your not-so-local mountain. Traveling abroad. We've all been there. This video will be sure to break boundaries with gnarly skiing and snowboarding in places we only dream about going.

Are you as sick of teasers as I am? I believe it's time for the whole shuh-bang.

The 18-year-old stomped it off a massive kicker in Europe.

While many of us were sulking because the season is practically over, Norwegian shredder, Stale Sandbech was busy stomping a brand new trick. A video of the 18-year-old hitting a massive kicker in Europe just surfaced, and in it, Sandbech stomps a triple underflip 1260. Yeah, we didn't really think that was possible either, but this video from Stale's sponsors proves it.
