So-Gnar Mighty Midwest Snowboard Camp: Tyrol Basin

Words: So-Gnar

Day 1 of So-Gnar's Mighty Midwest Snowboard Camp Tour at Tyrol Basin, Wisconsin started out great! The kids were anxious to get out to shred and the So-Gnar park along with Tyrol's park were looking epic. The day was filled with fun, learning new tricks, an Evol Burrito lunch, a little session in the So-Gnar park, and even a couple hammers.

After getting a good nights sleep it was time to start the second day of camp. The temps dropped transforming the snow into ice, but that wouldn't stop anyone.

The campers kept charging even harder than the day before. Campers dialed their newly learned hammers right before lunch allowing them to feel accomplished while they took a quick lunch break. After lunch the progression session started allowing all the campers to shred together and have a good time while progressing. Ending the day with too many new tricks to remember, campers were stoked with awards in the future. So-Gnar made sure every camper got an award as a reward for working so hard and bringing positive energy. Thanks to all our sponsors for the awesome prizing!

On New Year's Eve, Wisconsin snowboarders joined together to spend their night doing what they love instead of traditional New Years events. So-Gnar held the Shred Circuit Contest Series at Tyrol Basin to end 2011 with a bang. Competitors were antsy to get started as music blasted out of the Red Bull MXT and while our super unique park set-up was getting final touches. At 6 o'clock, the fun began. With little light, competitors weren't phased while throwing hammers left and right. So-Gnar would like to thank all competitors and families for coming out and ending the year with us.

The 18-year-old stomped it off a massive kicker in Europe.

While many of us were sulking because the season is practically over, Norwegian shredder, Stale Sandbech was busy stomping a brand new trick. A video of the 18-year-old hitting a massive kicker in Europe just surfaced, and in it, Sandbech stomps a triple underflip 1260. Yeah, we didn't really think that was possible either, but this video from Stale's sponsors proves it.

After seeing the video, we had to know what was going through Sandbech's mind when he stomped the new trick...
