All proceeds to benefit the JLA Memorial Fund

Friends, family and fans of Jeff Anderson gathered this past weekend in Mammoth during the Grand Opening of the resort for the "I Am Snowboarding" Tribute Art Show. • Arbor Kicks The Season Off Right

Snowboarding fiends stuck in L.A. get together to celebrate the start of the winter season

I’ve wanted to say these words for quite sometime so, here it goes…snowboarding season is finally and actually here. Not only are all the Southern California mountain resorts open (Mammoth, Big Bear and Mt. High) but Colorado and Oregon are getting dumped on, Lake Tahoe resorts are slowly starting up their chair lifts, and the weather is finally cooling down. Mother Nature might actually be hearing our prayers for winter to get here early. Arbor set the scene for the kick off of winter at.. More >

TODAY'S PROFILE

  • Travis Rice

Considering the craggy peaks and steeps of Jackson Hole it's no small wonder athlete Travis Rice has carved a career of charging death-defying powder gaps and shirking inevitable dangers in the most hostile backcountry conditions. The dichotomy of Travis lies is his penchant for powder and total control over all things hard packed. It's a true marvel how a boy from the powder laden steeps of Wyoming could exhibit such a commanding and immediate mastery over the halfpipe and snowboard parks, yet Travis is an X Games slopestyle gold medalist with a laundry list of wins ranging from quarter pipe victories to rail jams. With incredible competitive range, he regularly dominates big air, and has even placed top ten in halfpipe disciplines (although that is not his choice area of expertise). When not competing or working on his own Natural Selection event, Travis is starring in, directing, and producing snowboard movies, including what many claim as the best snowboard movie ever made, 2008's "That's It, That's All."
