The 5Star Sprint US Snowboarding Grand Prix Halfpipe Final is set to go off tonight March 5th 2011 in Mammoth Lakes, California, where top riders will be competing for a piece of the $90,000 USD prize purse and a maximum of 850 TTR World Ranking points. The Grand Prix will host a pristine 22-foot halfpipe and is a perfect event for riders to post a 5Star TTR result before the final major event of the season; the 6Star Burton US Open. The riders list includes the likes of TTR World No. 10, Benji Farrow (USA), and World No. 11, Kelly Clark (USA) who could both improve their positions in the Top 10 with a good result at the Grand Prix.After a one-year hiatus, the US Snowboarding Grand Prix is back as a major North American stop on the Swatch TTR World Tour providing riders the opportunity to obtain Swatch TTR World Ranking points. While many of us were sulking because the season is practically over, Norwegian shredder, Stale Sandbech was busy stomping a brand new trick. A video of the 18-year-old hitting a massive kicker in Europe just surfaced, and in it, Sandbech stomps a triple underflip 1260. Yeah, we didn't really think that was possible either, but this video from Stale's sponsors proves it.
