There was a time, not that long ago when the closing of Buttermilk would have been the least notable, the least film-worthy event in the ski-crazed Roaring Fork Valley. Aspen Highlands has the famous Highland Bowl closing party, and Aspen Mountain has the Sky Bar. Snowmass has a bonafide ski mountain worthy of the nation’s highest state. Buttermilk has always been the little sister mountain in the Aspen Snowmass quad-fecta. That all changed about a decade ago when the Winter X Games rolled into Aspen and suddenly supplied Buttermilk with the means for a world-class terrain park. As a testament to the effect Winter X has had on this valley, and the potential terrain parks offer to overshadowed little ski hills everywhere, the most viewable piece of film to come out of any of Aspen’s four closing days was this little edit featuring Torin Yater-Wallace and Aidan Sheahan.
