6. John John Florence Rampaging Through Europe
Working on a “Pro Spotlight”, TransWorld SURF tagged along with John John Florence and crew during the European leg of the ASP World Tour. We drove from France to Portugal, dined with the family, and noted how he likes to sweep, “It relaxes me,” he says. With a new sponsorship deal coming up and the Hawaiian surf season in full swing, these are exciting times for Mr. Florence. And as long as he’s not wiping his sweaty armpits on us, we’re stoked to be along for the ride!

4. The Working Man's Wave by Sanuk
Directed By: Joey Maiocco
Photographed By: Brian Bielmann/SPL
Director Of Photography: Scott Nichols
Filmed By: Scott Nichols, Tony Vercelli, Brent Firestone, Branden Aroyan
Surfers: Matt Meola, Alek Parker, Albee Layer, Kilian Garland

Sanuk's crew of delinquent desk jockeys set out to pay tribute to all the nine-to-fivers out there just working for the man and wishing for the weekend. You know who you are. Same shit, different day. Sanuk's Imaginarium submission is dedicated to you and all the other underdogs and working-class rippers locked away each day in the three-walled prison cells we call cubicles.

Tired of the mundane water-cooler talk, the incessant phone ringing, your boss' bad breath, the keyboard clicking, and the cackling hens in accounting? Of course you are. That's why it's time to break free of your gray flannel jail and discover the oasis you truly deserve.

Let's chalk one up for the regulars, the early birds, the deadbeat janitors, the number crunchers, the copy-machine cowboys, and even the taco-truck lady who rolls in every day at exactly 11:35 a.m. Let's chalk one up for every person out there with unfulfilled dreams of a better life. Let's chalk one up for a vacation from normality. Let's chalk one up for happiness.

If all you're getting barreled in is a sea of paperwork, then it's time to make work your beach. After all, even the worst day in the water is better than the best day at the office.

It's 9:00 a.m. Time to clock in.

What is Imaginarium?
We started Imaginarium to challenge the status quo, and in its third year, our surf photography contest has produced some of the most interesting images and short videos you'll see all year. This year, teams from Sanuk, Body Glove and VonZipper produced some of the coolest entries we've ever had.

We challenged three teams of four surfers to conceptualize and produce a unique and creative photo submission. They were also responsible for a video submission, which can be found on transworldsurf.com. The themes and ideas were up to them, and they were free to use any props, lighting, and equipment. The only rule was no Photoshop. Submissions were judged by the TransWorld SURF edit staff, as well as editors from TW SNOWboarding and TW SKATEboarding.

3. Kai 'Borg' Garcia Comes Clean

In this candid and gripping interview, Hawaiian surfer Kai Garcia aka Kaiborg comes clean with his past addictions and tells how he got clean and sober.

“In 1997, Kai “Borg” Garcia flew from his hometown of Kauai to Brazil where he won the Jiu-Jitsu World Championships. Along with being one of the most respected fighters in the world, he is also one of the most respected figures in the surf industry. Anyone who has had the pleasure of meeting Kai, will all say they were very lucky to do so. I consider myself extremely lucky to call him a friend and mentor. Recently, Kai went through the biggest struggle of his life, which nearly took it. I hope this story has as much of an impact for everyone as it has for me. Thank you Kai for everything you have done for me and all of the knowledge you selflessly give away. Enjoy world!”—Alex Gray/Turkeymelt.com

2. The Disappearance By Body Glove
Executive Producers: Robbie Meistrell, Billy Meistrell, Russ Lesser
Producer: Scott Daley
Directed By: Greg Browning, Scott Smith, John DeTemple
Filmed By: Damien Robertson
Surfers: Jamie O'Brien, Cheyne Magnusson, Alex Gray, Anthony Walsh

The Disappearance follows a group of four professional surfers and six filmmakers on what should have been the ultimate surf trip to the jungles of Indonesia but quickly became an excursion into heart-stopping terror. As the group discovers a secret perfect wave, strange images begin to appear on film. Are they sharks, alligators, or something else? Fear sets in. Accusations fly. By night, unseen evil stirs beyond their campfire’s light. By day, large animal prints are discovered nearby. Members of the crew begin to disappear one by one. As the end of their journey approaches, they realize that what they are filming is not an epic trip but their own descent into unimaginable horror.

This is the footage found on the multiple hard drives and cameras recovered at the destroyed campsite. The disappearance of the eight adventurers is still under investigation. Two survivors have been questioned repeatedly and continue to tell investigators strange stories of a sea creature. Search and rescue has finally reached the remote jungle campsite, but contact has been lost as of this press release. All attempts to establish contact with the search party have gone unsuccessful.

The United States Consulate is pushing hard to get answers and is threatening to levy actions if the US Navy is not allowed into the restricted area to investigate. President Obama has expressed his concern for the delicate situation and has sent his prayers to the families of the victims. He asked for quiet as he missed a four-foot putt while on vacation at a Caribbean resort.
