2nd Annual Reef/TransWorld SURF Buccaneer Beach Clean Up
On Thursday June 17, 2010 The Reef team and TransWorld SURF along with Buccaneer Galley hosted the second annual Buccaneer Beach Clean Up. It was held at Buccaneer Beach in Oceanside, California. This was a great event with close to 50 people showing up to help support the environment and keep our beaches clean. President of Reef, Jim Gerson, was very excited to be apart of this event adding, "We need to help clean the environment and take care of our beaches. The ocean and the beaches are a big part of our life here at Reef and we want to do our part in helping." Along with the Reef crew, Buccaneer Galley owner and TransWorld SURF Publisher Charlie Anderson was also there to show his support and love for the environment. Anderson said he was "stoked on the support from the community and Reef to help keep our beaches clean. This is becoming an annual event that we look forward to being apart of every year."
Reef team manager Heath "Nutty" Walker was there as well as pro surfer and Dragon team manager Sean Taylor to give back to the community and beach. Walker was happy to be down at the beach, "We have to do our part and contribute so that the environment we live and play in is clean." Taylor added to that, saying that he was there to help out "because I want to keep the beaches clean and pristine. It's where we live and what we do, so we need to put our effort in and do what we can to make it as nice as possible."
With the help from the Reef team, Buccaneer Galley and the local beachgoers, the second annual Buccaneer Beach Clean Up was a great success. Buccaneer Beach was cleaned to perfection and was once again restored with its natural beauty.—Allie Brown
