Carrie Underwood's big screen debut set for surfer's inpirational biopic
In 'Soul Surfer', Filming now in Hawaii
A day after singing the national anthem at the Super Bowl, Carrie Underwood, the Grammy Award winning singer and former American Idol champion, is readying for her next big career move...a jump to the big screen. Underwood is headed to the North Shore of Oahu, where she'll be playing a key supporting role in a biopic movie based on Hawaiian surfer Bethany Hamilton, the young lady who had her arm severed during a shark attack in 2003 while surfing in Kauai. ASP Buries the Hatchett
ASp Head Judge Fired
According to a recent report, Perry Hatchett's contract as head judge will not be renewed by the ASP for the 2010 season. Hatchett has not been available for contact and Dave Prodan, a spokesperson for the ASP says that currently most details surrounding the situation are too hazy for him to comment on. Owen's Wright Stuff
19-year-old Owen Wright is having the year of his life. Back home in Australia, he's gone undefeated in Pro Junior competitions. While most of his fellow competitors have surfed in nine events, Wright has only surfed in six, yet that hasn't prevented him from establishing a ridiculous 2000 point lead. The only reason he hasn't won all six times is he had to rush out of a few events early to make it to his next WQS event. Wright has carried his dominance onto the WQS, where he's already secured a spot on next year's world tour. And if you're wondering how he'll do once he gets there...well, don't. Wright beat Slater twice this year in as many tries. He just finished third at the Rip Curl Pro Search in Portugal, too, and might have gone all the way had he not blown out his eardrum in his quarterfinal heat. This guy will be feared next year...and rightfully so.
