September 29, 2005 — Los Angeles, CA — Boarding For Breast Cancer Foundation (B4BC), the leading non-profit, youth-focused breast cancer awareness group is gearing up for October Breast Cancer Awareness month through support from action sports product and pledge drive partners.
In an effort to further support B4BC’s health awareness program DC Shoes, Spy Optics and Betty Rides have developed signature products with proceeds to B4BC to be released this Fall.
In 2005 DC Shoes raised over $13,000 for B4BC through sales of the H2Zero Avatar shoe and Signal BC; for winter 2005/06 DC plans to release three co-branded B4BC/DC products:
The Shenlong BC, an all-weather snowboarding jacket.
The special edition B4BC Chalet BC, a calf-high, laced shearling-lined boot available in pink and white.
DC Shoes, Apple, and Incase team together to release the DC/Incase iPod case that includes the pink breast cancer awareness symbol across the front. Available in Apple stores nationwide as well as a featured item on the iPod website during October.
Spy Optics releases a limited edition pink fading to white 05/06 Soldier B4BC goggle with 100% of all proceeds to B4BC. Sales from the 04/05 Soldier goggle raised over $10,000 for the foundation.
Betty Rides presents a studded signature B4BC belt. This rock star item is available in rose or mocha. It features the B4BC and Betty Rides logo, as well as inspirational insignia.
“Over the past year, B4BC’s educational outreach program doubled from 2004. We attribute our ability to grow directly to the invaluable support from the action sports community, states Justine Chiara executive director of B4BC. “B4BC educational booth visitors are the same kids who buy these companies products so this type of relationship makes sense for all.
To further support B4BC during October Breast Cancer Awareness month Zumiez, Billabong, Burton and etnies girl will host special October promotions online and in retail.
Retail chain Zumiez will contribute an additional donation to B4BC on all DC Chalet boots sold instore and online.
Billabong will sell a limited edition t-shirt across all stores during October with proceeds to the foundation. B4BC will also be the beneficiary of the See Me Speak art auction to take place October 20 in New York City.
Burton will be selling custom B4BC pink bootlaces in their New York City and Vermont retail stores.
etnies girl is donating $1 from the sale of all etnies girl shoes online starting in the month of October through 2006. A special gift with purchase will include specially created breast cancer buttons, information regarding breast cancer awareness and early detection provided by B4BC.
