Rip Curl International has today announced the 2003 appointment of Adam Sharp to the role of Marketing Director for Lowers Inc, it’s USA based operation in Carlsbad, California.
Sharp’s appointment comes after year’s of working for Rip Curl Australia in both Sydney and Torquay, most recently as Marketing Manager for the Australian region.
Sharp brings an array of international market experience to the role, with specialist skills covering various areas such as the electronic media, core events and projects, strategic partnerships, and all facets of brand management.
Sharp’s background will compliment the existing strengths of the USA marketing team, including people such as Mike ‘Bones’ Makos, Scott ‘Pod’ Baneulos, and Ted Luna, all surf/snow/skate enthusiasts who know the core of the surf culture. Previously, Adam’s core experience has stemmed from being a director of ASP WCT events, four years as a highly credentialed ASP World Tour Judge, and years of core market experience dealing with athletes, core projects, and the surf media. He remains a committed surfer and snowboarder like the rest of the Rip Curl USA Ad/Promo crew.
“We’re looking forward to Adam joining the US team. He will compliment Makos, Pod and the rest of our marketing crew by adding more international experience and management expertise. I anticipate some exciting things will come out of our marketing department in the next few months,” said Leigh Tonai, CEO of Lowers Inc.
“Adam brings a portfolio of skills to the role in America that have not been their in the past, together with a detailed understanding of the operations and brand functionality of Rip Curl International”, said Stephen Kay, Rip Curl’s Global Advertising and Promotions Chairman.
At the announcement, Adam added, “The American market remains the global leader for the action sports industry, and Rip Curl is well positioned to move forward with an integrated marketing and merchandising strategy to grow the brand and business in the USA. It’s an exciting time to drive forward and I’m looking forward to the challenge.”
Adam will assume the full time role in the USA from late February/early March.
