Last night would have been sick if birthday boy Sam [IMAGE 1] Yago hadn’t gotten all wasted and shined showing the premiere of All Tha Way Live, which — when it does hit the screen– will feature the Hobgoods, Bruce Irons, Taj Burrow, Bobby Martinez, and more.
Quite a few from the San Diego surf-scene mush pot piled into Canes in Mission Beach last night (November 8) to witness the sneak peak of the flick, presented by Poor Specimen. Though the movie didn’t go on at 8 p.m. as scheduled, nor at 9 or 10 or 11 causing some people to leave and question the eight-dollar cover charge, the few that hung around got to see good, loud performances by Pivit and Furious IV.
You could call the night intimate or empty — depending on whether you’re a glass-is-half-full or half-empty kind of person — but it was still fun, especially in the restaurant part of Canes where the DJ spun a mix of hip-hop and techno. It was good enough to get some girls to dance on the table and it even got one editor to dance on a chair before getting threatened by a big-ass Canes bouncer.
