An Update From The Rock

The swell is here! After a week of strong winds, small surf, and rain, I awoke this morning to the sound of pounding surf. With the trials for the Pipe Masters set to begin Wednesday, December 8th, the swell is timely in its arrival. Now, we need this swell to sweep some of the sand off the beaches here, and we’ll be golden. Stay tuned for up to the minute reports from the Pipe Masters, Mike from the Pipe house is my bro and he’s guaranteed me the best seat in the house-the third floor balcony of the famed house, which used to belong to Gerry Lopez.

So what do we do when there’s no surf? We go to lavish parties hosted by big companies and world champions, like the one Billabong and Andy Irons threw the other night to celebrate Andy’s third straight world title. The party was held at the Waimea Falls Pikake Pavilion and tunes from the best band in Hawai’i, Natural Vibrations, filtered through the valley. A good time was had by all, nobody got cracks because Kaiborg was working the door, and Coors Light provided tons of free beer. An excellent time was had by all and thanks to Billabong, Andy, Kai Garcia, and everybody else who helped out! Now let’s put down our beer glasses and get back to surfing…
