TAVARUA, Fiji (Thursday, May 29, 2008): The Globe Fiji will not run today. The two-to-three foot conditions currently on offer expected to morph into much bigger waves later this weekend into next week.
Event officials have eight days in which to complete just one full day of competition.
When competition resumes, Australia’s Dayyan Neve will endeavor to post more scores like the 9.83 out of a possible 10 which saw him eliminate 2008 Tour rookie Jordy Smith (ZAF) in Round 3.
“I haven’t actually done better than ninth since I’ve been on the ASP World Tour, so I’ve equaled my best result,” Neve said. “I plan on making it my best result.”Neve will have to defeat reining ASP World Champ Mick Fanning (AUS) to advance into the Quarterfinals of the Globe Pro Fiji. Fanning and Neve will meet in Heat 5 of Round 4 when competition does resume. Another call on competition status will be made tomorrow morning at 7 a.m.
