Big Wave Women’s Champ Paige Alms’ message to women: ‘You’re just as good’

Big-wave surfer Paige Alms made history this year by being named the first-ever Big Wave Tour Women’s World Champion.

The women’s Big Wave Tour had only one event in its inaugural season, the Pe’ahi Challenge, held at Maui’s infamous big-wave spot Pe’ahi (also referred to as Jaws). Alms won the event and thereby was named champion.

It was a short tour, but this is only the beginning for women’s professional big-wave surfing.

In the video above, Alms tells Super Sessions what she wants women to take from her accomplishment: “You’re just as good, and you deserve anything, and any dream that you want to accomplish, you can do.”

Well said, Paige. We look forward to seeing what you do next season.
