Golfing For A Cause

Golfing For A Cause
MORINformed hit the links again, this time with the likes of: Bruce Irons, Dave Wassel, Mikey Guarino and Bill Ballard. It was for a good cause, the Mauli Ola Foundation, a charity that helps people with Cystic Fibrosis (CF) live better lives.

Basically, Cystic Fibrosis is a genetic disease that causes mucus to build up in the lungs, which eventually fail. Recently though, a group of kids in Australia who had CF, were healthier than most with the disease. The reason: they were surfing. The saltwater breaks the mucus up. Thus allowing MF shredders to breathe free.

See, surfing is good. This goes out to all the teachers who gave me bad grades, and told me I was wasting my life away, because I was surfing more than going to school. I was out there on the front lines fighting for the MF Gnarsters of the world.

The Mauli Ola Foundation is a non-profit organization that teaches people with MF to surf. You can check them out by clicking here.

Well anyway, after a late night at the Bay Club (a Turtle Bay bar), I was back at T Bay to play some golf. I suck at golf, GrindTV offered me some golf lessons, but I never took them up on it. So basically I did what I do best, drank Bloody Marys, and took bad pictures.

Check the photos below of: the founders of Mauli Ola, Bruce's swing, and some photos of the course.

"Record" for Largest Wave Ever Ridden Trivializes Big-Wave Surfing

A return to old-school measuring techniques is in order

Consider two representations of two very big waves, below. The first is a photograph of Mike Parsons at Cortes Bank. The second is a video of Garrett McNamara near Nazare, Portugal. Now take out some measuring tape and make the distance of one foot between your hands. That's the amount, according to the Billabong XXL committee, that McNamara's wave is bigger than Parsons's wave.
