Eddie Would Go

By: Tom Morin

Eddie Opening Ceremony
The opening ceremony of the Eddie was last week, which is always a good time. There were so many tourists and random photogs there, that there was no way I was going to hassle my way in for the perfect shot. I just stood back and some shots from a far.

Check out the the photo below of Bruce Irons, Nathan Fletcher and Mike Ho all sporting Stretch quads. Then the blurry shot of Jamie O'Brein also with one. Jamie Sterling as well. There were so many guys with those boards, Stretch seems to be taking over when it comes to big wave guns.

A return to old-school measuring techniques is in order

Consider two representations of two very big waves, below. The first is a photograph of Mike Parsons at Cortes Bank. The second is a video of Garrett McNamara near Nazare, Portugal. Now take out some measuring tape and make the distance of one foot between your hands. That's the amount, according to the Billabong XXL committee, that McNamara's wave is bigger than Parsons's wave.
