Parko And A.I. Score The Left

By: Tom Morin

Joel Parkinson and Andy Irons are two good ol' Billabong mates who go on surf trips together, are in videos together, and surf contests against each other. So, you know they've had good times over the years. Recently, they had a session they can chalk up as all time. They scored a wave in Bali that simply goes by "The Left." Irons had surfed it before, but not Parkinson. He was so taken back by how perfect the wave was he even wrote a little story about it over on his website.

Sit back, relax, click here and enjoy sotrytime with Parko, plus more pictures.

"Record" for Largest Wave Ever Ridden Trivializes Big-Wave Surfing

A return to old-school measuring techniques is in order

Consider two representations of two very big waves, below. The first is a photograph of Mike Parsons at Cortes Bank. The second is a video of Garrett McNamara near Nazare, Portugal. Now take out some measuring tape and make the distance of one foot between your hands. That's the amount, according to the Billabong XXL committee, that McNamara's wave is bigger than Parsons's wave.

Hey,

Tiago Pires was there too. Why didn't you write his name? He is on Billabong International Team and Top 45. I think those are enough important things to be mandatory to write his name, don't you think?

Cheers,
