A return to old-school measuring techniques is in order

Consider two representations of two very big waves, below. The first is a photograph of Mike Parsons at Cortes Bank. The second is a video of Garrett McNamara near Nazare, Portugal. Now take out some measuring tape and make the distance of one foot between your hands. That's the amount, according to the Billabong XXL committee, that McNamara's wave is bigger than Parsons's wave.

that's amazing. I wish there were more surf competitions on television...and that there was another competition format that was easier for fans to understand.

That's crazy! It's amazing what these pros can make happen with these waves. Most people are just trying to stay balanced.

I went on Day 1. July 31st and also August 4th since i live right here in Orange COunty. I couldnt make it to the Weezer show. but i saw a picture and MAN it was PACKED!!
