Consider two representations of two very big waves, below. The first is a photograph of Mike Parsons at Cortes Bank. The second is a video of Garrett McNamara near Nazare, Portugal. Now take out some measuring tape and make the distance of one foot between your hands. That's the amount, according to the Billabong XXL committee, that McNamara's wave is bigger than Parsons's wave.

best thing i saw at us open: 2 am at the shorebreak hotel...james woods somehow throwing his cell phone into the trash can outside while trying to answer it, enlisting the help of his mates to retrieve it (as there was a metal lid preventing his drunk hands from reaching the phone), who were comically unsuccessful, only to have a cute little girl show them that the lids are actually removable...haaaa!
