Goons Of Doom @ Australia's Big Day Out

By: Tom Morin

Goons
The Goons of Doom played at Australia's premier summer (it's summer down there) music festival, The Big Day Out. It consists of five shows in each state capital, and it is apparently a big deal. Fuck, Neil Young is playing the damn thing.

"We played on the Lilly Pad stage, which is where all the people who have had way too many drugs go to chill out," said Ozzie Wrong, who does not belong. "It was like hanging out in a bad dream that you didn't want to wake up from." Perfect.

After the show Goons member, Killer Whale, hosted an after party that Neil Young showed up to, and he even played a little music with Kurt Flindt. Like every other time a good time is being had, the cops showed up to rain on the parade...standard.

Ozzie's been busy lately. On his way home from a trip last week he stopped in Hawaii and scored some Pipeage. Check out some of the photos:

A return to old-school measuring techniques is in order

Consider two representations of two very big waves, below. The first is a photograph of Mike Parsons at Cortes Bank. The second is a video of Garrett McNamara near Nazare, Portugal. Now take out some measuring tape and make the distance of one foot between your hands. That's the amount, according to the Billabong XXL committee, that McNamara's wave is bigger than Parsons's wave.
