Last night Jimmy Kimmel donned a mustache in order to properly introduce his musical guest for the evening, the always awesome Donovan Frankenreiter. Donny is currently on the road promoting GLOW, his most recent LP, which is his fourth album to date. For those of you not familiar with the laguna native, he enjoyed quite a stellar pro surfing career and was able to work on his music along the way. Just as his pro surf career started to cool, he jumped into the studio with good friend Jack Johnson and within a few short years he has become a household name in the music industry. And he's still got the best soul arch bottom turn around...

"Record" for Largest Wave Ever Ridden Trivializes Big-Wave Surfing

A return to old-school measuring techniques is in order

Consider two representations of two very big waves, below. The first is a photograph of Mike Parsons at Cortes Bank. The second is a video of Garrett McNamara near Nazare, Portugal. Now take out some measuring tape and make the distance of one foot between your hands. That's the amount, according to the Billabong XXL committee, that McNamara's wave is bigger than Parsons's wave.
