Ambiguous Open House

Ambiguous had an open house party at their new headquarters over in Santa Ana the other night. I stopped by for a few drinks which turned into a bit more than a few, they were free, which can be a good thing and a bad thing. At first a good a thing, but than towards the end of the night it can turn into a bad thing. Like when your breaking chairs, and using one of the broken pieces as a baseball bat to hit water bottles and be beer cans at people. On second thought, that's probably not so much of a bad thing, so yeah, free drinks are good!

Anyway, the party was pretty damn fun. There was art show of painted ping pong paddles, a ping pong tournament, and lots of slaying going down in the skate facility.

I'll be posting a bunch of pictures from the night when I get my camera back from my dumbass friend. Until then you can check out the photos over on Ambiguous's site by clicking here. That's me and Wei, aka Hunter S. Penguin, above. Photo: Ambiguous

"Record" for Largest Wave Ever Ridden Trivializes Big-Wave Surfing

A return to old-school measuring techniques is in order

Consider two representations of two very big waves, below. The first is a photograph of Mike Parsons at Cortes Bank. The second is a video of Garrett McNamara near Nazare, Portugal. Now take out some measuring tape and make the distance of one foot between your hands. That's the amount, according to the Billabong XXL committee, that McNamara's wave is bigger than Parsons's wave.
