Year Zero (0000) World Premiere Party

By: Janos Palko

One of the better stops of the week long party tour that is the US Open of Surfing was Globe's Apocolyptic kegger for their new film 0000(yearzero). Instead of trying to piece together the broken shards of my memories from the night, I'll just point to other people that were there, and actually did their jobs.

Like Surfer Mag's Bryce Lowe-White, who snapped some epic shots of the shenanigans here.

And Surfing Magazine's Chas Smith was coherent enough to write some words in english here.

And finally, here's a great little wrap up video by the ever-talented Paul Barranco. enjoy..

"Record" for Largest Wave Ever Ridden Trivializes Big-Wave Surfing

A return to old-school measuring techniques is in order

Consider two representations of two very big waves, below. The first is a photograph of Mike Parsons at Cortes Bank. The second is a video of Garrett McNamara near Nazare, Portugal. Now take out some measuring tape and make the distance of one foot between your hands. That's the amount, according to the Billabong XXL committee, that McNamara's wave is bigger than Parsons's wave.
