More Salty Summer

By: Janos Palko

A couple weeks back we got to see Reef's first two installments of SALTY SUMMERS, their summertime surf webisodes, where we were treated to the first footage of Ben Bourgeois' secret Carribean Sand Point, as well as some Lava rock sessions over on the Big Island. Here we have episodes 3 and 4 for your viewing pleasure. These 2 chapters are a bit misleading, as they show some WINTER highlights from Hawaii, which is clearly contradicting the title but then again who cares. Shrimpy's bomb at the end of ep 3 is holy shit.

"Record" for Largest Wave Ever Ridden Trivializes Big-Wave Surfing

A return to old-school measuring techniques is in order

Consider two representations of two very big waves, below. The first is a photograph of Mike Parsons at Cortes Bank. The second is a video of Garrett McNamara near Nazare, Portugal. Now take out some measuring tape and make the distance of one foot between your hands. That's the amount, according to the Billabong XXL committee, that McNamara's wave is bigger than Parsons's wave.
