Torah Bright with Roxy in New York

By: Lindsay Fraka

Deemed snowboarding's "golden girl", Torah Bright hits up the Big Apple during the Quiksilver Pro alongside the Roxy surf athletes. If you didn't know already (you may be living under a rock), this Aussie hucks in the halfpipe, backcountry, and park and happens to win gold medals along the way. Recently married, constantly pushing and progressing women's snowboarding, and always with a gigantic grin on her face - we think it's apparent how she got her nick name.

In New York City, Torah talks about her trip, surfers versus snowboarders, the premiere of Art of Flight, and hopefully earning a place in one of Travis Rice's future films. If she stays on this track, we're thinking that there's a good chance of that going down.

"Record" for Largest Wave Ever Ridden Trivializes Big-Wave Surfing

A return to old-school measuring techniques is in order

Consider two representations of two very big waves, below. The first is a photograph of Mike Parsons at Cortes Bank. The second is a video of Garrett McNamara near Nazare, Portugal. Now take out some measuring tape and make the distance of one foot between your hands. That's the amount, according to the Billabong XXL committee, that McNamara's wave is bigger than Parsons's wave.
