Moroccan Magic

By: Janos Palko

Here on the West Coast of Amurrrica, when in the mood for hot sand, cold pointbreaks, and cheap everything, we migrate south to Mexico.

For the ever-growing population of European surfers, Morocco has become their Mexico, and then some. Turns out the place absolutely fires with a wide range of surf. We've all seen the green sand point tubes from Sipping Jetstreams, but in this journey, Benjamin Sanchis and crew find a monster outer reef left that looks like a Mavericks sized Pipeline, in a addition to some winding pointbreak shacks. The clip is extremely well shot and edited, and is thusly worth 11 minutes of your life. enjoy.

"Record" for Largest Wave Ever Ridden Trivializes Big-Wave Surfing

A return to old-school measuring techniques is in order

Consider two representations of two very big waves, below. The first is a photograph of Mike Parsons at Cortes Bank. The second is a video of Garrett McNamara near Nazare, Portugal. Now take out some measuring tape and make the distance of one foot between your hands. That's the amount, according to the Billabong XXL committee, that McNamara's wave is bigger than Parsons's wave.
