Florida Surf:Summer Dribble

By: Patrick Wieland

Went out to the beach and shot some surfing. There are couple hot spots to go any day of the week here in Florida to find talent no matter what. I lucked out to find Aaron Cormican, Evan Gieslman and more out surfing this day. Its insane the amount of talent in the water in Florida. We have some of the crappiest waves in the world but we have some of the best surfers in the world any day. The old saying that if you can surf really crappy waves good you can shred good waves like nothing.

The girlsweren'tafraid to get out in the sun either. Check out the video and all the action. Im going to pay my ticket for parking on the wrong side of the road trying to film off my the roof of my truck!

"Record" for Largest Wave Ever Ridden Trivializes Big-Wave Surfing

A return to old-school measuring techniques is in order

Consider two representations of two very big waves, below. The first is a photograph of Mike Parsons at Cortes Bank. The second is a video of Garrett McNamara near Nazare, Portugal. Now take out some measuring tape and make the distance of one foot between your hands. That's the amount, according to the Billabong XXL committee, that McNamara's wave is bigger than Parsons's wave.
