HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. – Boardfest, the largest event of its kind in the U.S., announces the inaugural “Girl Power” action sports movie festival. Boasting a coveted demographic of 100,000 primarily tween and teen spectators, the youth-driven video showcase compliments Boardfest’s sporting and music components, and is a sure bet to lure entries from major lifestyle brands and independent producers.
Boardfest is staged in Surf City USA at the Huntington Beach Pier over Labor Day weekend, August 30 to September 1, 2008. Information is available at Myspace.com/boardfest.
Where action sports, music and life collide, Boardfest ’08 showcases something for every level of involvement, synergistically weaving surfing, skateboarding and snowboarding competitions, surfing and skateboarding clinics, makeovers, empowerment activities, interactive exhibits, live entertainment, music, fashion shows, dancing and attractions.
The Boardfest “Girl Power” movie festival features the latest action sport videos and top women athletes. Screenings will take place within the Boardfest venue in an air-conditioned “theater” environment. Professional surfers, snowboarders and skateboarders will introduce films and sign autographs.
“The Boardfest Movie Festival is a great opportunity for popular girl’s brands like Hurley, Volcom, O’Neill and Etnies to showcase their latest videos to a youthful, action sports-stoked audience,” said MKM vice president Cherie Whyte.
The girl power movie festival builds upon Boardfest’s popular stage and entertainment component that features youth acts including Paramore, Cute Is What We Aim For and MTV’s Alex M. Boardfest also draws 100 world-class athletes ranging from X Gamers to elite pro surfers, while several hundred “future stars” participate in “learn to” clinics.
Boardfest is produced by MKM, a Huntington Beach-based firm that specializes in non-traditional public relations, experiential marketing and special event production. Please visit TeamMKM.com, Myspace.com/TeamMKM or call (714) 375-2188.
