Bobby Martinez put a cap on a great year by winning the 2005 O’Neill Coldwater Classic in excellent conditions at Steamer Lane in Santa Cruz, CA. on Monday, October 24. Martinez, who according to ASP President Rabbit Bartholomew has enough points accrued to qualify for the 2006 World Championship Tour, was on fire throughout the entire event, and thanks to his new sponsor, Reef, didn’t have to pay the entry fee himself as he has throughout the WQS season.
Joining Martinez in the final, which was delayed until Monday due to a super-thick fob bank, was Matt Archbold (2nd), Cory Lopez (3rd) and Timmy Reyes (4th). For his efforts, Martinez took home $10,000 and 1,500 more points to add to his 2005 WQS total.
