Men’s and Juniors Sportswear Lines Take Inspiration from Coastal Lifestyle-
REDONDO BEACH, Calif., (August 2, 2005) — Body Glove International will be taking over the House of Blues Foundation Room at the Mandalay Bay during Magic, August 29-31, for the exclusive premiere of its spring 2006 young men’s and juniors collections. Through a licensing agreement with Rays Apparel, the preeminent lifestyle apparel manufacturer in Southern California, the Body Glove collection embraces current fashion trends, taking inspiration from the costal lifestyle while incorporating the technical features inherent in the board sports industry.
Body Glove’s young men’s sportswear collection, designed for the 18 — 35 year-old active male, includes a full line from revolutionary boardshorts to woven shirts and denim. The collection features fabrics from sueded synthetics to laundered cottons in colors ranging from sun drenched mid-tones to sultry brights. The woven shirts encompass cleaner, contemporary styling, while the knitwear radiates a relaxed and vintage feel in a soft washed hand. Also included in the spring 2006 sportswear line are shorts and casual pants in sueded twills, enzyme washed dobbies and yarn dye plaids. The denim collection offers an alternative to the basic five pocket jean by using feather weight denim in non-traditional silhouettes.
Body Glove’s spring 2006 young men’s swimwear collection includes an extensive, full spectrum of boardshorts with offerings for everyone from average beach goers to avid surfers and watermen. The key subdivision of the line, the Vapor Boardshort Series is developed from the technical attributes and styling of Body Glove Vapor Wetsuit and designed for the specific needs of the waterman. The Vapor Boardshort (patent pending) is constructed of an innovative water repellent, stretchable, breathable fabric which allows the boardshort to retain dry-like characteristics, even in a wet environment. The internal webbing around the entire waistband provides a cinchable waist, allowing adjustability and a customized fit. The BioStone boardshort collection has a wash similar to premium denim and soft, broken-in finishes which are inspired by vintage fashion. The colors and prints of the color-blocked boardshort styles are drawn from sophisticated high-end fashion lines and combined with Body Glove’s surfing heritage to create a collection with function and style, in and out of the water.
“Working on Body Glove’s first true apparel line has been exciting, says Joe Seemayer VP of sales for Body Glove. “The company has such a rich history and adding a sportswear collection will further extend the brand’s consumer reach while enhancing the overall Body Glove image.
With the launch of the juniors apparel line for spring 2006, Body Glove is expanding the brand with feminine, fashion forward styling for juniors and young contemporaries. “The Body Glove juniors line has an unexpected fashion forward attitude, says juniors designer Hollie Jodon. “We designed a line that is more stylish and sophisticated than typical beach wear but true to the Body Glove dive and surf legacy.” Body Glove adds dimension to the collection with pin-tucked tops, girly dresses, embroidered Bermuda shorts and embellished skirts focusing on three major themes that draw inspiration from the brand’s roots, while incorporating a savvy, stylish attitude. “Beyond Bali adds flavor with embroideries and embellishments in baked brights and washed linens; “Tropical Punch echoes a playful, effortless style with printed satin and madras plaids; and “Antique Boutique features feminine candy colors and crocheted pieces.
In addition to the House of Blues, Body Glove will also exhibit the 2006 sportswear line at the Pool tradeshow August 29-31, 2005 in conjunction with Magic. Beginning in January 2006, the Body Glove apparel line will be available at high-end surf shops, specialty stores, better department stores and sporting good retailers nationwide.
