Brazilians blow up at the Wavegarden

Two of the biggest names coming out of Brazil right now are the diminutive duo of Gabriel Medina and Miguel Pupo. Both are wire-y goofy-foots, and both are in the midst of stellar WQS seasons, especially Medina who would go on to win the 6 star event just after this video was shot. Being small guys who specialize in small waves, these two are possibly the most suited to test out WaveGarden’s prototype pool in San Sebastian in the Basque Country of Spain.

WaveGarden shocked the world last year with their mysterious videos leaking throughout the internet of a dream-like mini left barrel reeling in some beautiful mist-filled valley. The technology is revolutionary in that it can be installed in existing and alterable lakes and canals, and uses less energy than previous wave pools. They are currently building a full sized version of their design, which should create shoulder high tubes for as long as the pool allows. Imagine that..

During a lay day from the San Miguel Pro in Zarautz, which is just down the way from where the Wavegarden is located, the two Brazilians had and impromptu heat at the little left. This has to be the most progressive surfing done in the garden to date.

Looking forward to more interesting news from the boys over in San Sebastian..
