VOLCOM STONE’SBUTTERFISH SURF SERIESPRESS RELEASE
Volcom Stone held the final event of Butterfish Surf Series at Tar Pits in Carpinteria on Mar 3rd, 2002. The surf was small, very small but clean and everyone was amped with ton of prizes and valuble VQS* points on the line. Over 70 competitors competed under sunny skies on one of the best beach days of the month.
In the Pro-Am division it was a fight for first! If youv’e never been to Tar Pits its one of the most Locally gaurded waves that no one knows about, or even cares! but, when the contest comes to town it’s on! Local boys Vince Perry and Blake Howard fought it out for local pride Blake was dominating the heat with a smooth his smooth Back hand, but Vince Perry found the biggest wave of the day and killed it for the win. Kilian Garland and Adam Virs rounded out the final.
In the Juniors it was local hoop dreamer Bummy Koepenick who wasn’t going to back down and dominated the Junior division for the win. young Cory Arrambedie came in second followed by: Shea Parton, Jon Grubbs, Frank Tesoro, and Tom Mowry in that Order.
In the Groms it was over grown Kilian Garland who had been hospitalized all week suffering from Mono who took the first place prize, followed by Tim Pfannestiel, Cory Arrambedie, and Mike McCabe.
