Barca doesn’t just throw out compliments for no reason-Kyle Ramey is the real deal. Earlier this year, Ramey won the prestigious Open Shortboard division of the American Surfing Championships in Huntington Beach, taking out a stacked field of America’s best amateurs, including fellow Hawai’ians Ola Eleogram and Wesley Larsen.
Splitting time between Kaua’i and Maui (where his dad lives) has proved beneficial for Kyle. One day he’s ripping the south shore of Kaua’i with Aaron Hacker and Chris Satterfield, and then the next day he’s off to Maui to hone his skills with Clay Marzo and Cheyne Magnusson.
Ramey has big plans for the future. “I want to get on the ‘CT,” says the confident Kyle. Don’t bet against him-there’s something in that Kaua’i
