Hometown: Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico
Sponsors: Squalo, Gravis, Von Zipper, Pacific Drive Surf Shop, Freestyle, Walker surfboards
He looked Hawaiian, he surfed insane, his board was much less covered with sponsors stickers than most the guys in the line up at Rocky Point that day, so I knew this guy was on his way up the ladder, but much to my disbelief, he wasn’t Hawaiian-he was from Mexico. Kalle Carranza is a far cry from many of today’s surfers. He comes from a surf stoked area down on mainland Mexico that doesn’t get visited as frequently as let’s say, Puerto Escondido, or Cabo San Lucas. Bet even though his hometown may not be aspopular as the other prime Mexican destinations, Kalle grew up surfing perfect surf, and his talent shows.
For the last two years Kalle’s been traveling the world, spending far less time at home, but being on the road, surfing as much as he can, shooting relentlessly. Kalle is not into the politics of the surf industry, he’s not infatuated with who get’s what, and who makes what kind of dough, but instead, Kalle is concerned with staying wet, getting barreled, being a positive role model to all of his surfing amigos back home in Puerto Vallarta, and making his ultimate dream come true.-Kepp
