With Brazilian parents and an American upbringing, Wesley De Souza is the ultimate fusion of Brazilian passion and American style. De Souza, whose parents are Brazilian, speaks fluent Portuguese and isn’t afraid to put his Brazzo blood to work in heats-paddling his ass off and surfing with energy and flair.
While Wesley hasn’t put up huge results on the WQS yet, he’s out there battling, and last year he traveled to events and photo trips in South Africa, Brazil, Panama, Costa Rica, Barbados, Europe, Hawai’i, and Puerto Rico. Some of his best contest results have been a fourth place at the Oakley Junior Pro in New Jersey, a fifth place at the Vans Airshow at Sebastian Inlet, and Wesley ended the South East Explorer season rated first in the men’s division.
For the last two years, Wesley has been on the bubble of qualifying for the U.S. Surf Team that participates in the World Junior Championships (held this year in Tahiti), and one of his main goals for the coming year, his last year of eligibility, is to be on that team, representing his country.
Stay on the lookout for a Brazilian/American ripper, shredding the shores of Florida-he could be our great hope for a Team America World Title.-Justin Cote
