Okay, let me give it to you quick because shit is happening fast on the usually slow paced North Shore.
Billabong Pro Maui
The women’s event in Maui is over. According to a phone call I got last night at 11:30pm Hawaii time from Rochelle Ballard, Chelsea Georgeson won. The message went something like this: “Cote! Chelsea won! It was 1,2,3! We’re raging, where are you!?” The 1,2,3 call was an end of the year standings announcement. Sofia Mulanovich World Champ, Rochelle runner up, and Chelsea Georgeson in third. Congratulations ladies! I’ll make the next party…For a complete wrap on the ladies event, log on to www.aspworldtour.com
Rip Curl Pro Pipeline Masters Update
The first round of the Pipe Masters has been completed in glassy, 6-8 foot, ideal conditions. Standouts were Dean Morrison, Andy Irons, Sunny Garcia, Mark Occhilupo, and Kelly Slater, who had the highest heat score total of the day with a 19.10 out of a possible 20 points. Nathan Hedge was injured early this morning before his heat and was unable to surf his heat, leaving the door open for trialist Shane Dorian. Hedgey injured his shoulder after suffering a nasty wipeout during an early morning surf. More info, photos, and a great press release written by Mr. Jesse Faen at www.aspworldtour.com
